Guwahati: A video of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has surfaced online, where the Congress leader was seen rushing towards the stage as she was getting late to address the gathering. Nevertheless, she managed to make it on time.

In the video, she was seen sprinting towards the stage, whilst the crowd gathered to welcome her. However, the BJP did not miss a chance to take a jibe at the party by terming it as Congress' old habit.

The video has been shared by many including Assam Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who quipped that it was nothing new as Congress has always been late when it comes to Assam.

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary was on a two-day visit to the state. At her rally in Tezpur, Vadra announced the 'Five Guarantees' campaign for the people of Assam, if the Congress is voted to power in the state.

Addressing a public gathering (Gana Samaroh) at Hazarapar Field in Tezpur on Tuesday, the Congress leader announced, "The Congress is not making promises, but giving you guarantees if voted power."

The five guarantees include a law that nullifies the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), provide five lakh government jobs to youth in the next five years, Rs 2,000 monthly income support for homemakers, a hike in the daily wage of tea workers to Rs 365 and free electricity up to 200 units per household.

Vadra urged the people of Assam to recognize the right leader and vote carefully for a brighter future of Assam. She criticized the ruling BJP party for not fulfilling the promises they made to the people of the state.

Assam will go to the polls on March 27, April 1 and April 6 respectively. The counting of votes will take place on May 2.

While Congress will be contesting the polls along with its alliance AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), CPI (Communist Party of India), CPI (Marxist), CPI-ML (Marxist-Leninist), AnchalikGanaMorcha, and BPF (Bodoland Peoples' Front). The BJP will contest with its alliance AGP (Assam Gana Parishad) and UPPL (United People's Party Liberal). The two new regional parties AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad) and Raijor Dal will also be contesting in an alliance.
