TINSUKIA: The inmates of pro-talk ULFA designated camp at Kakopathar in Tinsukia district have been facing acute financial crisis after pro-talk ULFA leader Jiten Dutta, who used to act as mediator and guardian of the camp, was arrested on sedition charges.

Addressing a press meet at the Kakopathar designated camp on Monday, former rebel leader captain Antu Chawdang said the Kakopathar camp, having more than70 inmates along with families and school children, was being maintained with dwindled cash. Deeply frustrated over the arrest of Dutta, Chawdang said that Jiten Dutta was leading a peaceful and democratic agitation against CAA and his arrest was unwarranted and demanded his immediate release.

While supporting CAA, the former rebel leaders claimed that the contentious CAA issue also hampered the ongoing peace dialogue with the government. In the press meet, Chawdang was flanked by pro-talk leaders Bijoy Chinese and Dibakar Moran, the camp manager. They also expressed apprehension about the school admission for their children and the forthcoming Magh Bihu festivity which was likely to be marred unless the financial crisis was resolved soon.
