Professor Sarat Mahanta Memorial Lecture to be held at Sibsagar College

SIVASAGAR: The seventh edition of the Professor Sarat Mahanta Memorial Lecture will be held on June 18 (Saturday) at Sibsagar College, Joysagar in which renowned novelist and Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Dr Rita Chowdhury will speak on the topic 'Reflection of creator's life experience in novels'.

The lecture will be organized by Sibsagar Press Club, in association with Sibsagar College, Joysagar. On June 18 every year, to mark the death anniversary of renowned educationist, writer, journalist and human rights activist Prof Sarat Mahanta, the memorial lecture is organized by the Sibsagar Press Club. Prof Mahanta was a former member of the Assam Human Rights Commission and former Head of the History Department at Sibsagar College. He was also a founder member and chief advisor of Sibsagar Press Club.
