GOALPARA: The Career Counseling and Guidance Cell of Goalpara College, in collaboration with the Goalpara district police administration, organized a three-day programme on 'Opportunities in Police Service' at Kuruabhasa village, Goalpara.
The programme was aimed to impart necessary trainings for police service as a part of outreach programme of Goalpara College. Kuruabhasa village is adopted by Goalpara College to ensure all-round development of village.
The programme was inaugurated by VV Rakesh Reddy, Superintendent of Police of Goalpara district, in presence of Dr. Subhash Burman, Principal of Goalpara College. Senior faculty members of the college and around 80 youths preparing for the ensuing recruitment of constable in Assam Police, also participated in the programme.
During his inaugural speech, the super cop urged the youth to emulate the success stories of Olympians Lovlina Borgohain and Mirabai Chanu and said that there was no limit to aim and while aiming high for joining the police force, one may not always reach the pinnacle but it will pave the way for career options.
The officer also said, "The youths need to involve themselves in preparation for police service and avoid any indulgence in drug-related activities."
Delivering his welcome speech, the Principal of the college encouraged youths to actively participate in the programme and avail the opportunities offered by the district administration and college.
Biswajit Kalita, Inspector of Police, explained the guidelines and the selection process for benefit of the youth. Dr Santosh Kr Mishra urged the students to take up the challenges positively and to always have a humane approach while serving the country. Dr.Jayanta Kr Brahma, coordinator of Career and Guidance Cell, Goalpara College, moderated the programme.
