DIBRUGARH: An extension programme was conducted by the department of Geography, MDKG College here in its adopted school, Bokel High School, Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

The programme titled ‘Glimpses of North East India’ was targeted towards the students of Classes 8 to 10 so as to generate awareness and broaden the horizon of knowledge about the eight states included in Northeast India.

The programme began with an introductory note by D. Bora, Assistant Professor of the department, followed by brief speeches by Dr M. Bagchi, Head of the Department of Geography of the college. The others who spoke on the occasion were Subhadra Dutta, the Headmistress of the school, S. Gogoi and P. Bhattacharjee, Assistant Professors of the department.

The 6th semester Geography students of the college in an interactive mode narrated information and facts about the eight states and conducted instant quiz among the school students. The college students also demonstrated dances of the eight states. There were around 372 school students who participated in the open-air programme in the school playground. The winners of the quiz were awarded prizes and chocolates.

Later, the school children shared their experiences about learning in an innovative and entertaining process through the programme and thanked the department.
