Project Morom: A mission to help the needy continues in Sivasagar

Sivasagar: Continuing its efforts to extend a helping hand towards the needy, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Lakshmi Priya recently distributed mats and sweaters among children of Anganwadi centres and primary schools.

The distribution programme was held at the Circuit House under ‘Project Morom’. Project Morom is an initiative under the ambitious ‘Mission Soulful Sivasagar’ to help the needy with clothes and other basic essentials.

The Deputy Commissioner, under the integrated child development scheme, distributed 610 mats to the supervisors of the Anganwadi centres. These were distributed among 80 centres in rural areas, 30 in urban, 80 in Amguri, 180 in Nazira, 160 in Demow and 80 in Gaurisagar.

Apart from these, 1,727 sweaters were distributed for the needy children of the primary schools under four education blocks. Among these include 497 of Amguri, 420 under Khelua, 300 under Nazira and 510 under Demow.

Notably, under the initiative and stewardship of the Deputy Commissioner, clothes and other materials are being distributed from time to time under ‘Project Morom’ of Soulful Sivasagar. Under this project, notebooks, pencils, biscuit, socks, sweaters, mats and other items are being distributed among needy children of Anganwadi centres and primary schools of the district.
