DOOMDOOMA: Bhupen Lahon alias Tuku Lahon (53), proprietor of Jagadamba Timbers, died under mysterious circumstances inside an Indigo aircraft at Mohanbari airport, Dibrugarh on Saturday. According to reports, he was coming from Bengaluru to Dibrugarh that day. On not finding him at the exit of the airport, the driver of the car that went to receive him there reportedly informed the matter to the airport authority, who on searching him, found him dead at his seat inside the aircraft. His body was taken a private nursing home at Dibrugarh by an air ambulance where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Besides casting a pall of gloom in the town, the incident has aroused many questions as to how a passenger quite fit for travelling could met with such a death and even so, under what circumstances. The second question that arises is as to how the aircraft crew was unaware of his death even after expiry of so much time after landing at the airport?

His body was handed over to the family members on Sunday after completion of the postmortem and he was cremated at Doomdooma smashan ghat on the same day in presence of a number of people. He is survived by his mother Hema Prabha Lahon, a retired school teacher, wife Juri Dutta, Assistant Professor, Makum College and a three-month old female baby. His death was mourned by many organizations.
