KOKRAJHAR: The CEM of BTC, Pramod Boro on Thursday said that protection of forest was the only way to check the global warming and ecological imbalance.
Replying to queries on the recent eviction drive in Chirang reserve forest in the Chirang -Kokrajhar border near Shantipur by the forest department of BTC, Boro said the eviction was made based on data of fresh encroachment areas. He said global warming and ecological imbalances were the greatest challenges of worldwide and everybody has moral responsibility to end the biggest threat to mankind. "Today everybody has realized the impact of global warming and its only way of solution is to protect the forest and ecology system in balance. No one can escape from terrible impact of global warming and thus the BTC forest department has taken up action against fresh illegal encroachment in reserve forest," he said.
Boro said the forest department had full data of fresh encroachment in reserve forest which was not at all supportive on the ground of necessity of protection of forest and green cover. He also said the ministry of environment, government of India had taken up proactive role in dealing with the global warming and thus the BTC had moral responsibility for protection of forest and mother earth. He, however, said the BTC had not played with the humanitarian issue in the name of eviction drive but assured that alternative place and livelihood would be provided. He hinted that fresh illegal encroachment would not be allowed at any cost in reserve forests. He called upon all to come forward to protect forest and green cover for the sake of balanced ecology system and to get rid of deadly natural calamities.
