Protests against CAB paralyzes normal life in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Normal life in the entire Doomdooma circle of Tinsukia district was paralyzed on Wednesday. People from all walks of life staged protest on Wednesday against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. Protesters blocked the roads at Doomdooma, Rupai Siding, Kakopothar and Saikhowa. Though there was no bandh call given by any organisation, but a spontaneous bandh was observed today in Doomdooma circle.

At Doomdooma the irate public closed the office of Doomdooma Forest Division and the Revenue Circle Office of Doomdooma. People brought out massive procession in the tea town and later held a protest meeting on the NH - 37 near ASTC bus stand.

The protests gradually engulfed larger areas. Of late people of Daisa and Kordoiguri area also brought out torch light procession in their area.

Meanwhile , Tinsukia district administration has postponed all the ongoing examinations in the district until further order w.e.f. December 12. All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU) has started economic blockade in the state for indefinite period against CAB. In a press statement AMSU president Arunjyoti Moran said that they would continue their anti- CAB protests. He also thanked the people for supporting the 48 hours Assam bandh call given by AMSU on December 9 and 10.
