TANGLA: The Protirodhi Bondhus have been providing yeoman’s service in the health sector for the populace of the Indo-Bhutan border villages of Udalguri district amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There are 119 such Common Service Centres in the district rendering service to the needy populace where 500 volunteers have been roped in as part of the effort to fight the pandemic.
The essential services provided include information dissemination and awareness, tele-psycho counselling and telemedicine, e-Pashu Chikitsa (veterinary advice) and banking services,” said Dimple Baruah, assistant commissioner of Udalguri district. She also added that the Udalguri district administration was in close touch with all the Pratirodhi Bondhus to make this noble initiative a grand success.
Dipankar Deury of the CSC said that a total of 14 patients had benefitted through this e-medical facility so far in Udalguri district and encouraged by this development, the Udalguri district units of CSC serving as Protirodhi Bondhus were creating awareness among the village masses to avail the service.
Tanka Pokhrel, a cancer patient of Shuklai and an Indo-Bhutan border resident, also admitted that he was immensely benefitted by the tele medicine facility provided by the CSC as he was able to consult the cancer expert concerned while sitting at home. He also appealed to the needy people to approach the CSC operational in various parts of the district, particularly during the ongoing lockdown period.
