Pubali Deka of Pothorughat tops HS (Arts) exam

MANGALDAI: Scripting her name in the history of the district Pubali Deka, a promising rural talent of the historic Pothorughat area in Darrang district, topped the HS final examination (Arts), 2020 with total 481 marks. Pubali secured 96 in Assamese, 93 in English, 97 in Education, 96 in Geography and 99 in Logic and Philosophy. Her father Brajen Deka of village No. 1 Chengapara is a Grade IV employee of Pothorughat HS School and mother Anupama Deka is homemaker. Pubali in her HSLC examination from Pothorughat HS School secured 90 per cent and took admission in NRDS Academy-a private academic institution at Dipila in Sipajhar LAC. Though Pubali Deka is yet to choose an academic institution for her graduation, she has taken the decision to become a teacher. Significantly, in the HSLC examination this year, the topper Dhritiraj

Bastav Kalita and 9th rank holder Bhrigu Mohan Kumar were also from the greater Pothorughat area of the district. Immediately on receipt of the news of her achievement, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah, MLAs Binanada Saikia of Sipajhar and Guru Jyoti Das of Mangaldai rushed to her residence to offer her felicitation. A large number of well-wishers, relatives and representatives of various organizations too rushed to her residence to celebrate her success.
