PATHSALA: "Law is important for a society for it serves as a norm of conduct for citizens. It also provides guidelines on the behaviour of citizens. It sustains equity on the three branches of the government as well. This was stated by Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass during a meeting organised by AALSA (All Assam Law Students Association) here.
He stressed, "Legal awareness must be created among the public. It will help in delivering justice right from the grassroots level."
In the meeting, the Bajali District Committee of AALSA felicitated Das, Minister of Panchayat & Rural Development, Public Health Engineering, Food & Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. The Minister was warmly felicitated by the AALSA chief advisor Dipam Jyoti Das, vice president Milton Choudhury, and Barasha Sarma and Hira Rani Sarma — Advisor of the 'All Bajali District Law Students Association'.
Various legal issues, provincialisation of law colleges and burning issues of the State were discussed with the Minister.
Minister Ranjeet Kumar Das also said, Law is important because it acts as a guideline as to what is accepted in society. Without it, there would be conflicts between the social groups and communities. So, creating awareness on legal aspects among the public is of utmost necessity. The AALSA must be given due credit for taking the very great step to create legal awareness and offer a helping hand to the people needing legal advice."
