TINSUKIA: Floating all standing norms, the Shyamapalli Durga Puja Committee in ward no. 3 under Tinsukia Municipality has allegedly erected the puja pandal blocking the road, thereby creating hindrance to the movement of vehicles, including emergency services. A social worker and a leading citizen of the locality raised objections to such illegal erection in different platforms, including Tinsukia district administration, but no one paid any heed to his complaint.
The complainant Alok Sarkar repeatedly requested the organizer of the puja committee during the past couple of years not to obstruct the road but the organizers continued to do so and this year is no exception even though the district and police administration, while redressing the grievances in an interaction meeting with the media recently, assured that no erection of pandal would be permitted. After all his attempts failed to convince the puja organizer, Sarkar made a formal complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia on September 16 and appraised him with evidences and sought his intervention.
The DC in turn deputed an ADC to look into the matter who called Sarkar for personal hearing on September 25. What raised eyebrows was that the ADC allegedly asked Sarkar to bring more people to support his complaint. Deeply perturbed by this, Sarkar dashed another complaint to the DC on September 26 highlighting the development and sought justice with copies being sent to the ADC and Superintendent of Police, Tinsukia.
