TEZPUR/RANGAPARA: In pursuance of the POSHAN Abhiyan, the Sonitpur district administration has come up with a first of its kind initiative - Pusti Vardhanam, wherein under the guidance of MP of Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das and the Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, Bhupesh Chandra Das, all the severe acute malnutrition (SAM) children have been tagged to voluntary donors who are taking the responsibility to donate nutritious food items to the SAM children till the children becomes normal or healthy.
In this connection, the project under Rangapara ICDS project was launched on Thursday by MP of Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das at a ceremonial function in presence of MLA Rangapara Krishna Kamal Tanti, officials and all the kind donors who have stepped out to become a part of the journey of those less-advantaged children.
Addressing a mammoth gathering in the project launching meeting held at the welfare office auditorium at Ranagapara town in Sonitpur district, MP Pallab Lochan Das said that it was a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022. "The objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan is to reduce stunting in identified districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of key Anganwadi services and improving the quality of Anganwadi services delivery. Its aim is to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children."
The parliamentarian urged all concerned to come forward to work for the disadvantaged children. Local MLA of Rangapara LAC, Krishnakamal Tanti also spoke on the issue and appealed to all sections of the society, including government officials and related stakeholders, to extend their helping hand to build a malnutrition- free society.
Total 22 SAM children have been identified for the purpose under Ranagapara ICDS Project while a total of 275 SAM children have been identified in the entire Sonitpur district and the resolution to take up this initiative was taken up during the last DISHA meeting which was chaired by MP Pallab Lochan Das.
