Raax festival gets underway in Biswanath Chariali

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Silver Jubilee celebration of Uttar Chariali Sarvajanin Rasotsava got underway on Monday at Chariali Academy playground here. Thousands of spectators were fascinated by the presentation of Guru Vandana, Ananta Bed, Daivaki's marriage, Putna Vadh, Dadhi Mathan, Bakasur Badh and Kaliya Daman Nritya.

Earlier, a colourful procession depicting the rich ethnic culture of the State was taken out throughout the town. It was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath Munindra Nath Ngatey. Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner, Deba Kumar Mishra, AASU Advisor Dr Samajjul Kumar Bhattacharya etc. were also present during the Raax festival. Megharanjani Medhi, a popular actress from the film industry of Assam, played the role of Mohini in the dance drama that portrayed various characters of child Krishna and enthralled the audience. On the other hand, on the fourth day of the festival, actress singer Deeplina Deka will participate.
