LAKHIMPUR: RahdhalaPukhuri of North Lakhimpur town managed to grab the best water body title of the State during the AmritSarovarMahotsav held coinciding with the Independence Day of the nation this year. It was declared by Swapnaneel Paul, the Mission Director, AMRUT, Assam through an Office Order issued vide No. AS/AMRUT-2.0/51/2022/93 on September 23.

It is indeed a good news for the Lakhimpur district administration, North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB) and people of the district. The order said that on the basis of recommendation by Selection Panel for AMRIT SarovarMahostav held in select water bodies in the State, the NLMB hadbeen selected as the top of the three performing Urban Level Bodies (ULBs) for RahdhalaPukhuri.

On the other hand, Rangia Municipal Board and Abhayapuri Municipal Board secured second and third positions. According to the Office Order, RahdhalaPukhuri bagged 66.875 marks out of 100 while water body near NabakhurujPuthibhoral under Rangia Municipal Board secured 66.125 marks and RajbariPukhuri of Abhayapuri Municipal Board secured 64.75 marks. The Selection Panel reportedly comprised of ministers and high-level officers of the Government of Assam.

Notably, Lakhimpur MLA ManabDeka, Executive Officer of NLMB, Casio Karan Pegu, ACS, left no stone unturned to bring RahdhalaPukhuri, located at Ward No. 7 of the North Lakhimpur town, to the present status within a short period. NLMB conducted a three-day long programme from August 13 to August 15 in connection with the HarGharTiranga and AzadiKaAmritMahotsav. As part of the programmes, the civic body celebrated AmritSarovarMahotsavin the beautifully-decorated RahdhalaPukhuri premises. Along with other programmes, the main attraction of the event was the hoisting of the National Flag at 65 feet height. The National Flag was hoisted by Lakhimpur MLA ManabDeka in the presence of SumitSattawan, the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur along with other dignitaries.

The order further said that the awards and the certificates, as mentioned in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the AmritSarovarMahotsav, will be given away to the selected ULBs later.
