AHMEDABAD: While the vociferous attacks of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress' top leadership may be nothing new, but it seems the CM Sarma has just increased the offensive just ahead of the Gujarat Assembly Elections.

In his latest attack CM Sarma has compared the looks of the Congress Leader to that of Iraq's Former President Saddam Hussein.

Addressing a BJP rally in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, the Assam Chief Minister said that the Congress Leader looks more like Saddam Hussein while referring to his recent interview with a television channel.

CM Sarma said, "I told in a television interview a few days ago that there is no problem with Rahul Gandhi's new look. But if you have to change your looks, then at least make it like Vallabhbhai Patel or Jawaharlal Nehru. Even better if you look like Gandhiji, but why do you look more like Saddam Hussein now?"

Moreover, the Assam Chief Minister also claimed that Rahul Gandhi is 'invisible' in Gujarat. He said, "He visits the state as if he were a visiting professor… he didn't even campaign in Himachal Pradesh. He is only going to places where elections are not conducted, possibly because he is terrified of losing."

Reacting to the remark, Assam Congress Chief Bhupen Kumar Bora said that Himanta Biswa Sarma wants to be in the headlines and that it is possible only when he takes Rahul Gandhi's name. Bora while talking to reporters said, "Himanta Biswa Sarma can say anything. He can go to any level for power. We do not pay attention."

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been extensively campaigning in Gujarat for the forthcoming polls slated to be held in early December. During the last few days, he was also in Delhi for campaigning there ahead of the civic polls.
