GUWAHATI: After series of a visit from the ruling party to poll-bound Assam in the year 2021, now Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is said to kick start his poll campaign in Assam on February 14 at the Sivasagar Boarding Field in Upper Assam.

Speaking to media, Congress leader Debabrata Saikia said that the national leader is also said to visit Majuli.

As on February 6, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Guwahati to attend a programme regarding the distribution of Rs 3000 each to eight lakh bank accounts of tea garden workers under a direct transfer benefit (DBT) scheme of the state government.

Earlier in the month of January, PM Modi distributed 1.06 lakh land pattas/allotment certificates to indigenous people of Assam in Sibsagar on January 23.

Further, the PM is also scheduled to visit Dhekiajuli in Assam on February 7, 2021.

It is to be mentioned that with the Assam Assembly election around the corner the national leaders of the ruling BJP party as well from the opposition is leaving no stones unturned to acquire the committed 100 plus seats.

Meanwhile, on February 5 AJP (Assam Jatiya Parishad) and the Raijor Dal have joined hands to contest the Assembly polls.

Announcing this before the media here on Thursday, AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi pointed out, "All forces having the true regional character will fight as one. Our consensus candidates will give a strong fight in all the 126 seats."

He stressed, "The 2021 Assembly elections will lead to the formation of a government comprising only our regional forces. The polls will witness a two-cornered contest. We will have a straight fight with the all-India political parties as well as their allies backing communal philosophies."

Lurinjyoti added, "The AJPhas already tied up with the ASDC (Autonomous State Demand Committee) for the polls. Talks are on with the BPF (Bodoland People's Front)."
