Raid conducted by Bongaigaon police in connection with SI recruitment scam

BONGAIGAON: In connection with the Assam Police Sub-Inspector recruitment exam scam, police have been conducting investigation in Bongaigaon also. After recovery of a huge amount of money from two different places of the district, police conducted raid in a reputed clothes store 'Karni Store' in Bongaigaon on Sunday.

Hiralala Shyamsukha, the owner of Karni Store, is the father-in-law of Dipak Baid, son of Akshay Chand Baid, who is one of the main accused in the scam and owner of Akshay Telecommunication, the company which is alleged to be involved in the scam. But police have not disclosed anything regarding the raid or what was recovered from Karni Store. The shop has not been sealed.

On the other hand, fire broke out in a godown of Bongaigaon on Sunday. As per sources, Akshay Chand Baid had some connection with this godown also.

In this regard, several organizations, including All Assam Students' Union, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and Goriya Moriya Deshi Jatiya Parishad staged protest in Bongaigaon and demanded CBI inquiry in the scam. They also claimed that the main culprits had still not come in focus and should be arrested immediately.
