Raids conducted against illicit alcohol under Dergaon subdivision in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: A massive operation was carried out against illegal alcohol in rural areas under Dergaon subdivision of Golaghat district on Monday night.

The Superintendent of Excise, Golaghat, Manabi Das along with Excise Inspectors (Sadar) Niranjan Das and Bibhu Phukan of Dergaon Circle, conducted raids in various villages under Dergaon subdivision. The excise officials conducted raids in Soguri Kachari gaon, Bongaon, Namtemera and Chumoni gaon. During the raid operation, around 740 litres of illicit fermented wash were destroyed, large quantity of illicit country liquor destroyed and illegal IMFL was seized.

In this connection, the excise police arrested four persons and seized machines and equipment for preparation of alcohol.

On the other hand, few days back, Golaghat Excise department carried out raid in the border areas of Karbi Anglong district under Bogijan police station where two persons were arrested along with huge quantity of illicit country liquor and foreign liquor.
