DIBRUGARH: "As long as the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is in alliance with Congress, the Raijor Dal will not initiate any move to form a joint front with the Congress or be a part of the Congress-led opposition front," Sibsagar MLA-cum-president of the Raijor Dal, Akhil Gogoi told mediapersons here.
Gogoi was in Dibrugarh to appear before the court in connection with Chabua PS case registered against him and others during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) agitation. While briefing media persons, Akhil Gogoi said that the AIUDF was a communal force like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), so there was no question of remaining in any opposition front where AIUDF was one of the constituents. He further clarified that possibility of seat sharing understanding with Congress might be initiated on constituency basis in the ensuing by-election if any proposal is received from the Congress. He further asserted that if Congress and Raijor Dal contest the ensuing by-election in an understanding of constituency-based seat sharing, no force could prevent both the parties from winning.
