Dibrugarh: To much relief of the passengers, the Railway Ministry has recently declared the running of the premier trains, Rajdhani Expresses between New Delhi and Dibrugarh. The two bi-weekly trains will start operating from October 12 and 15.
The train bearing the number 02505 will start from Dibrugarh district, and cover the Dibrugarh-New Delhi route, by crossing India's longest rail-cum-road bridge, Bogibeel Bridge. The special trains will halt at some new stations for the first time, like Harmuti, Rangapara, and North Lakhimpur.
The train from Dibrugarh will start running from October 12 at 10 pm on Mondays and Fridays. The train running from New Delhi to Dibrugarh (02506) will operate from October 15. This train will run on Thursdays and Sundays.
The trains were suspended in March due to the nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. Initially, only trains carrying goods were allowed to operate. However, from May 1, the government introduced Shramik Special Trains, which ran across the country. These trains were introduced to transport the migrants who were stranded away from home due to work during the lockdown. The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) received 170 Shramik Special Trains in the month of May, which brought 2.25 lakh passengers to the Northeast region.
With the commencement of the trains now, it will accommodate people from various sections of the society to travel across the country for various emergency reasons. However, it is also important for the passengers to follow the rules of traveling and maintain protocols, to stop the further spread of the virus.
