DIBRUGARH: The Ramesh Chandra Barooah memorial lecture was held in Dibrugarh on Saturday, an annual event since 2013. The lecture for 2020-21 had to be differed due to Covid restrictions.

The occasion was organized by the Ramesh Chandra Barooah Smritirakhya Samiti under the presidentship of Bhudev Phukan. Marking the start of the programme, Indira Barooah, daughter-in-law of late Ramesh Chandra Barooah lit the lamp and offered a floral tribute. This was followed by a Ram Bhajan soulfully rendered by Dr. Aditi Baruah, Head of the department of Sanskrit Dibru College.

In keeping with the samiti tradition two awards were presented to Dr. Girish Phukan & Indranath Konwar for their achievements in the world of sports & music respectively.

Dr. Mriganka Shekhar Chaliha, a renowned Cardiologist and Head of the Department of Cardiology Assam Medical College then presented the memorial lecture, a comprehensive and illuminating talk on the causes of heart diseases & the preventive measures one can adopt in the lifestyle & eating habits. The meeting ably conducted by Kalyani Baruah ended with a vote of thanks by Anil Dowerah, stated a press release.
