NUMALIGARH: A random swab sample collection drive is underway in various districts and places of Assam since June 17 and it will last till June 30.
In view of the surge in COVID-19 positive cases in the State, the Assam Government started the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP) across the State by aiming to conduct 50,000 random tests for the deadly virus. Random swab samples are being collected from various places of Bokakhat subdivision since June 19. Swab samples are being collected from the areas of great risks like bus stands and petrol pumps.
After conducting a swab sample collection drive at Numaligarh Refinery Marketing Terminal (NRMT), the Bokakhat Subdivisional Health Department in Golaghat district sent a total of 46 swab samples to the Assam Medical College and Hospital for COVID-19 test till Tuesday. A total of 21 swab samples were sent on Monday while 25 swab samples from NRMT were sent on Tuesday. The swab samples were collected randomly from people engaged in various works of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd like the workers of the refinery, drivers and helpers of the oil tankers and lorries.
