Rangapara By-elections: Dry Day Declared on October 21

Tezpur: In view of the upcoming bye-elections to 74-Rangapara LAC in Sonitpur district on October 21, the Deputy Commissioner vide an order has declared dry days throughout the area of Sonitpur district from 5 pm of October 19 to 5 pm of October 21. Moreover, the day of the counting of votes, which is fixed on October 24, has also been declared a dry day in the district until the process of counting is over.

All government-licensed IMFL retail OFF/ON shops, hotel ON, clubs, country spirit retail shops and wholesale warehouses and IMFL wholesale warehouses in the district will remain closed on these days. It is prohibited to sell and consume any kind of intoxicants in the area during the period. Any violation of the order will be dealt with under relevant provisions of the Assam Excise Act and Rules.
