TEZPUR: Rangapara MLA Krishna Kamal Tanti and MIP Tezpur, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar on Friday visited four tea gardens under Rangapara LAC in Sonitpur district and held meeting with the managers of Dhulapadung, Ghoirali, Sessa and Borjuli to review the COVID-19 preparedness and vaccination in the tea estates.
During the meeting, MLA Tanti stressed the need to create utmost awareness activities regarding COVID appropriate behavior. He asked to ensure that physical distance was strictly maintained, that quarantine and sensitization process was monitored, besides ensuring that all the tea garden workers wear masks while doing their duties in the tea gardens. He discussed the vaccination process, availability of medical infrastructure, oxygen and COVID-19 testing facilities. Tanti also met the leader of workers' union and staff union and asked their cooperation to prevent the COVID pandemic in the gardens.
MIP, Tezpur, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar said that 12 fresh COVID cases were detected in Dhulapadung TE till Friday. He directed all the managers to set up COVID care centre to treat asymptomatic patients and directed that symptomatic patients should be sent to designated COVID hospital and quarantine centre. He also directed strict implementation of restrictions for containing the pandemic.
