TEZPUR: In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the State and as per directions received from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Assam, the Sonitpur district administration began Rapid Antigen Tests in the district from Friday.

With the view to check community transmission in the district, these tests will be carried out in places where large gathering of people take place such as bazaars and haats. The rapid antigen testing has already begun in the district at MCH, Paruwa and at TMCH and soon a vehicle with all required facilities will also be rolled out as a mobile unit to carry out these tests in the district.

People may also voluntarily come forward and get themselves tested and a total of three centres - at Hem Baruah Bhawan, Don Bosco School, Paruawa along with MCH Poruwa - will soon start functioning for the same.

The results of Rapid Antigen Tests will be received within half an hour of sample collection and any person who tests positive for COVID-19 will be straightaway admitted to a COVID hospital in order to stop the virus from spreading to other people.
