Kokrajhar/Bongaigaon: To commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on Thursday the Kokrajhar and Chirang district administration observed Rashtriya Ekta Divas at the district headquarters.

In Kokrajhar, the Run for Unity was flagged off by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner PP Mazumder in presence of Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh and other higher officials. The run was started from the Government HS&MP School playground. Earlier, the DC and other officials paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

In Chirang, Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar administered the pledge of Ekta Divas to the officials, students, and public present there and flagged off Run for Unity organized from Yoga Centre via district centre, Deputy Commissioner’s office and Superintendent of Police’s office. In his speech, Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and highlighted his immense contribution towards India’s freedom struggle and national integration. “This day reminds us of the tremendous hard work and effort put in by this national leader in the struggle for independence and his great role in the unification of the princely states of India,” he added.

The programme was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Karmadev Brahma and Biswajit Goswami, Additional Superintendent of Police Bedanta Borkotoki, Election Officer Jagadish Brahma, district heads of departments, students and heads of educational institutions.

Haflong: Along with the rest of the country, the Rashtriya Ekta Divas was observed at Haflong to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The programme was organized by Dima Hasao District Sports Association in collaboration with the district administration.

The programme was started with the lighting of the lamp by Dhrubajyoti Dev, ADC, Sreejit T. Superintendent of Police of Dima Hasao along with other dignitaries and they paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. In this connection, a pledge was administered by Dhrubajyoti Dev, ADC, to all the participants of the programme.

A Run for Unity was flagged off by Sreejit T, Superintendent of Police of Dima Hasao, where departmental heads, police personnel, students, social workers, NGOs, senior citizens, members of apex bodies and others were present. The run was started from SBI waiting for shed point to the Council Rotary and back to SBI waiting shed.

GUWAHATI: The message of Rashtriya Ekta Divas reached an interior village of the Boko area in Kamrup district where MyGov Assam organized a Run for Unity among school children to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The residents of Pyranga, a village where people from Rabha and Muslim communities have been living in harmony for decades, took the pledge of upholding national unity on the occasion.

The school children and villagers were enlightened by the MyGov Assam team on the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards building what is called India today. Saplings and reusable cloth bags were distributed among the villagers to promote the idea of a clean, green and plastic-free Assam. The villagers also took “say no to plastic” pledge in order to keep their surroundings clean while realizing the fact that plastics pose a serious hazard to domestic animals and humans as well.

Meanwhile, some villagers expressed that better connectivity with the nearest township Boko could lead to the generation of more livelihood opportunities for the villagers. Pyranga consists of two parts — Pub Pyranga and Pachim Pyranga – where women from both Muslim and Rabha communities in almost every household have taken up weaving as a means of earning, stated a press release.

Dibrugarh: Rashtriya Ekta Divas was observed in Dibrugarh on Thursday. On this occasion, Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner, Pallav Gopal Jha administered a unity pledge to the employees of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in a meeting held at the conference hall of his office. Earlier in the morning, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Susanta Kumar Dutta flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’, which was organized by Dibrugarh district administration in association with the office of the Sports Officer, Dibrugarh. The run, which started from DC’s office to Thana Chariali, was participated by Assam State Housing Board vice-chairperson Subhas Dutta; Assam Gas Company Limited vice-chairperson Indra Gogoi; Assistant Commissioners, Rashmi Pratap, Hrishikesh Baruah, Madhusmita Phukan; District Sports Officer, Dhrubajyoti Deka; representatives from various sports organizations; school students and others.

As a part of the Rashtriya Ekta Divas celebration, street plays were also organized by the administration to impart the message to protect the unity, integrity, and security of our country at any cost. Notably, several competitions such as essay and debate were also organized by the administration among school students in connection with Rashtriya Ekta Divas.

SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar DC Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya on Thursday flagged off and participated in the ‘Run for Unity’ event, on the occasion of the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Sivasagar. Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Amitava Sinha, DDC Nawab Al-Azhar Ali, ADCs Junumoni Sonowal, Bidit Das, Moon Gogoi, and Dilip Terang, personnel from 149Bn. CRPF, officials of different government departments, sports personalities, school and college students and youngsters from different sections of the society participated in the run which was organized with a slogan of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’.

The Deputy Commissioner also paid tribute to the first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and administered the unity oath to mark the occasion.

KALAIGAON: Along with the rest of the country, the Rashtriya Ekta Divas was observed on the campus of the SDO(C) office in Bhergaon with a day-long programme on Thursday. On the occasion of the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Run for Unity and oath-taking programme were organized, led by Gakul Ch. Brahma, SDO(C) of Bhergaon. Kushal Kalita, AC of Bhergaon, along with all heads of the departments, students and social workers of Bhergaon subdivision took part in this programme.
