Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2019 Celebrated in Lakhimpur District

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the nation, Rashtriya Ekta Divas 2019, also known as National Unity Day, was observed in Lakhimpur district on Thursday, commemorating the great contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India”, on the occasion of his 144th birth anniversary.

On this occasion, the Lakhimpur district administration organized a special programme at Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town as per the instruction of the State government. In the programme, anchored by ADC Utpal Borah, Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B lit the ceremonial lamp in front of the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. In his speech, the DC commemorated the noble deeds of the first Home Minister of India.

In connection with the programme, a “Run for Unity” was organized in order to highlight the efforts made by Sardar Patel in uniting the country. It was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner. The police personnel of the district, officers and employees of all departments, students of the schools and colleges along with citizens took part in the programme.
