Dibrugarh: A town hall meeting was organized by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the MSME entrepreneurs in the Moran weaving readymade garments cluster in Dibrugarh district on Thursday.

The cluster sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India under Scheme for Fund Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), is being implemented by IIE under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The Town Hall meeting which was organized for the Moran Handloom camp; Ready Made Garment Cluster, was to bring the MSME entrepreneurs under the purview of the banking channel and to create awareness in financial linkage to the artisans of the cluster. An interactive session on banking procedure with the members of the cluster was also held with IIE officials and bankers. The Moran traditional dress making cluster has been approved by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India under SFURTI scheme with IIE Guwahati as Nodal and implementing agency, Export Promotion Council for Handicraft-NER as Technical Agency and Kiran NGO as the Implementing Agency in Moran involving and benefiting 695 traditional artisans, mostly belonging to tribal communities and spread across nine villages in Moran.

Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) Guwahati working as a nodal as well as implementing agency of the scheme, has so far implemented 56 clusters under SFURTI projects in different districts all over the north-eastern region and other parts of India. IIE has 27 SFURTI clusters in Assam, one in Arunachal Pradesh, 10 in Manipur, 2 in Nagaland, 6 in Meghalaya, 2 in Tripura, 2 in Odisha, 1 in Bihar, 1 in Madhya Pradesh, 1 in Uttarakhand and 2 in West Bengal respectively. All these clusters are mainly engaged in production of handloom, handicraft, bamboo, musk making, agro and food processing products.

The meeting was attended by Regional Director, RBI Guwahati, Sanjiv Singha, DGM, FIDD, RBI, Siladitya Biswas, AGM, RBI, Mousam Banerjee, and other officials. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to increase credit linkages with the entrepreneurs of the cluster within a period of one year.
