MANGALDAI: The Udalguri district committee of IRCS (Indian Red Cross Society) launched an awareness campaign among the public on the necessity of following the COVID-19 protocols. The campaign was carried out especially among shop keepers and customers at the Udalguri weekly market on Wednesday.

The campaigners also distributed face masks among the deprived section of the populace and also requested all the customers and vendors to follow the COVID-19 protocol seriously.

The theme of the campaign was 'Don't purchase goods from the shop where the shopkeeper does not wear face masks. Do not sell goods to customers, who do not wear face masks'.

Two premier non-government organizations, namely MRSD and DOESS of Udalguri, extended their support to the campaign. The Chairman of Udalguri district committee of IRCS, Dalim Bayan and secretary Milan Das led the programme.

The IRCS officials observed, "Many people are not serious about the pandemic situation and do not even put on their face masks properly while some just keep the face masks in their pockets and bags. Moreover, several shopkeepers do not use hand sanitizer."
