MANGALDAI: The troops of Red Horns Division deployed in Udalguri and Darrang district, with a view to ameliorate the medical and health-related issues of domesticated animals of the villagers, organized a veterinary camp under Operation Sadbhavna on Wednesday.
The event saw participation from nearby villages, which included villagers from Jhakuapara, Dhekerigaon, Kasomari and Sonarbasti villages in the Dalgaon area. A team of veterinarians and field assistants from the army and civil administration took part and rendered services in the camp. Apart from free check-up, vaccination was also administered to the animals and free medicines were distributed to the owners.
A lecture on animal health care and awareness issues was also presented by the doctors to educate the locals on the best practices for the prevention of different common ailments about threat of communicable diseases in animals. The effort generated an overwhelming response and total 750 animals, including dogs, cows, buffaloes, goats and ducks were treated.
The commanding officer of Golandi Battalion said, “It will always be a genuine and unconditional effort by army to help the locals in such basic amenities as far as possible.” Veterinary Officer of Dalgaon, Dr Prasanta Kumar Roy also took keen interest in this venture by the army and provided all-out support for the treatment of the domestic animals of the locals in the remote belt.
