TEZPUR: World Blood Donors Day is being observed across the globe on June 14. In the run up to the event, Red Horns Division of Gajraj Corps organized a blood donation camp at Umroi Military Station, Meghalaya on June 9 in collaboration with North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences- NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.

Dr Lutika Napran and support staff from NEIGRIHMS, along with doctors of the Indian Army conducted the camp. Prior to the camp, motivation and sensitization drive by way of talks and pamphlets were organized. Total 100 units of blood were donated by 100 serving Army personnel and dependents of the Umroi Military Station. The camp was inaugurated by the Station Commander. The units provided to the NEIGRIHMS will assist them in dealing with the shortage of blood during various life saving surgeries and compliment the existing efforts of the civil administration in health care.
