DIBRUGARH: Both Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and District Road Safety (DRS) meeting were held at a Deputy Commissioner's Conference Room on Thursday with DC Pallav Gopal Jha in the chair. The meetings discussed several issues including the problems arising out of nonfunctioning of digital signal light in various traffic points in the district, unauthorized plying of e-rickshaw in AMC&H, introduction of pre-paid taxi cab service from Mohanbari Airport for passenger's convenience, identification of black spot on the roads and installation of road signage in accident prone roads and crossing, problems of traffic congestions and parking.

After a thread bare discussions at RTA and DRS meeting, the DC and chairman of both committees Jha directed the executive officer of the Dibrugarh Municipality Board, ADC, Ranjit Konwar to take immediate steps to repair all the nonfunctional digital traffic signal lights taking help from local farms or experts if approved farms failed to turn up due to COVID-19 lockdown. Regarding plying of e-rickshaws in the town areas, the members unanimously resolved that plying of e-rickshaws should be allowed in the rural areas only and specific certain numbers should be allowed in AMC&H and nearby Panchayat areas. The members were unanimous in the decision to introduce pre-paid taxi cab in the Mohanbari Airport. The chairman Jha had entrusted DTO to find out ways and means to introduce the service within this month positively. The meeting while discussing the problems of traffic congestions due to illegal plying of three wheelers in the town, had resolved that DTO office should ask all the licensed auto owners of both rural and urban areas to colour their vehicles in yellow and black respectively, as measures to trace their movement.
