Relief items among needy families distributed by Dhemaji AASU

LAKHIMPUR: Responding to the call of the central committee of All Assam Students' Union (AASU), the Dhemaji district unit of the organization distributed food items among the needy families affected by ongoing lockdown. Dhemaji AASU conducted the relief drive under the aegis of Dhemaji regional committee and in association with Dhemaji Businessmen's Union.

Dhemaji district AASU president Dipak Sarmah and Dhemaji regional committee general secretary Karunjyoti Chetiya said that various food items were distributed during the past three days among more than 500 families of the district who had been adversely affected by the ongoing lockdown.

On the first day, AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Dhemaji district AASU adviser Subhas Burhagohain, Businessmen's Union president Naren Konwar and other dignitaries of several ethnic community organizations were present in the relief distribution programme. On that day, relief was distributed among 300 families living at Borasiya, Bamgaon and Gohaingaon.

On the other hand, led by Dhemaji regional unit AASU adviser Rantu Gogoi, president Jayanta Borgohain and general secretary Karunjyoti Chetiya, relief items were distributed among 200 families living at Betani Gaon, Telijan, Eradhol, Hatigarh, Sengelipam and No. 2 Bhoralisuk villages.
