NAGAON: As per directive of State government, district transport officer, Nagaon also appealed to thousands owners of private as well as commercial vehicles of the district to get the fitness certificates at a minimum subsidy penalty of Rs 10 to Rs 25 instead of the old penalty rate of Rs 50 on a daily basis upto October 15 in the current year.

While speaking to this correspondent, DTO, Nagaon Sunit Kr Bora said the benefits of subsidized penalty rate of late fine especially in fitness of vehicle will cover upto October 15 and to get the benefits under that subsidized scheme, the private as well as commercial vehicles whose date of renewal of fitness have already passed and are yet to apply for it, can go for online application till August 15 only.

If the owners of such vehicle will fail to apply within the stipulated time and deposit the dues and other penalty expenses within October 15, they will apparently lose their vehicles in all aspects as their respective vehicles will be seized at their doorsteps itself by the enforcement teams and thereafter will be scrapped by the department concerned, he asserted further. He said the online application for renewal of fitness of those expired vehicles in the district have been started from July 15 here and urged all the owners to go for online application to renew the fitness of their respective vehicles on or before October 15 in the current year.

DTO Bora ascertained it too that the district transport office initiated a big step to scrap over 50 such vehicles within a month and the department concerned had already completed all formalities in this regard. All these vehicles were seized by enforcement teams and the owners of those are yet to respond till date to the department concerned who is repeatedly asking to deposit the dues as well as other penalties imposed on, he stated.
