Guwahati: Noted Assamese actor Shankar Chakraborty tragically passed away on Saturday at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati city. He was 48.
According to reports, Chakraborty was suffering from kidney problems and had also tested positive for COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus. After his condition became serious, Chakraborty was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the GMCH where he breathed his last. The actor is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Chakraborty, an acclaimed actor, has acted in the Bordoicila, Kohinoor, as well as Bhramyaman theatres. He has acted popular in plays such as 'Moromor Bandhobi Bidai Diya', 'Radha Ebar Hahi Diya', 'Asthapath', 'Pratighat, among others.
