Renowned politician Charan Narzary’s adya shradha organized at Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The adya shradha of renowned politician, professor, writer and former MP, Charan Narzary was held at his residence at Mwiderkhoro, Kokrajhar on Sunday as per tradition of the Bodos. Hundreds of leaders of various organizations from across the State, well-wishers, revolutionary leaders and people took part in the ritual.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary offered floral tribute on portrait of Narzary. He also addressed the memorial lecture on the life, dedication and contributions of Narzary to society. He also released Mwdwi, a memoir brought out on the occasion.

In his speech, Mohilary said that Narzary was one of the greatest movement leaders who started the separate statehood movement by forming PTCA in 1967. He said today’s movement for separate state was inspired by PTCA under the strong leadership of Narzary as they met Union Ministers, urging them to create separate state for tribal people, and submitted memoranda several times. Mohilary said that Narzary was not only a politician but also a noted writer. He said the Bodos and other tribals had lost a great genius.

The memorial lecture, which was chaired by the president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Taren Boro, was also attended by former president of BSS Kameswar Brahma, president of the ABSU, Promod Boro, and various other dignitaries.
