Research-based book on the history of Assamese cinema released in Nagaon

NAGAON: Satyasree Agarwal, daughter of Rup Kunwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwal ceremonially released a special book on the history of Assamese cinema, 'Jyoti Prasad Joymoti Indramalati and Beyond' at a function held at Nagaon press club on Wednesday. The book is written in English language by noted shot filmmaker and film critic Parthajit Boruah and published by Krantikal publication, a leading publication of the district.

Dr Subratajyoti Neog, head of the department of Assamese, Tezpur University graced the occasion as the chief keynote speaker. While addressing the occasion, Dr Neog said it is a great job accomplished by the author towards the greater Assamese nation and it will apparently help to set up Jyoti Prasad Agarwal in national as well as international levels so far.

Referring to the contents as well as the merits of the book, Dr Neog however said that the book would be included in academic courses in Tezpur University in the days to come.

Noted Assamese filmmaker and director Arup Manna, Assamese storyteller Sibananda Kakoti, litterateur Krishna Dulal Boruah and other distinguished dignitaries of the small town were present in the prestigious programme.
