KOKRAJHAR: Several leaders of the BPF, including former Lok Sabha MP Sansuma Kuunggur Bwiswmuthiary, and the People's Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM) have expressed their resentment over the dismantling of some rooms of the BTC Secretariat after the Governor of Assam took over the reins of the council administration on April 27.
Since the term of the Hagrama Mohilary-led BTC administration came to an end on April 27, the Governor sent Rajesh Prasad as Administrator and Sidharth Singh as Principal Secretary to look after the council. The term of the Governor's Rule is supposed to be for six months but the dismantling of rooms of the Secretariat, designed by a reputed designer in order to make new rooms for the Administrator and Principal Secretary, has irked the people of BTC.
Sources from the BTC Secretariat said that the dismantling of the conference hall on the third floor for the new room of the Principal Secretary and fourth floor in Block A of the Secretariat for the new room of the Administrator has not gone down well with many people. Sources added that there was already room for the Principal Secretary with all facilities but it perhaps not enough for him. An officer, on condition of anonymity, said that there was no tender to dismantle and reconstruct rooms. The code of conduct is also in force in BTC.
Former MP SK Bwiswmuthiary and chief convener of PJACBM, Gorjan Mashahary expressed deep anguish over the dismantling of rooms in the BTC Secretariat and said that there was no need to dismantle rooms in the Secretariat to run the council for a short period. They questioned the intention of dismantling the rooms under Governor's Rule.
