Dhubri: The five-day district level Resource Persons Training on English and Mathematics in general pedagogy for Classes I-II and III-V under Sarva Siksha Abhijan (SSA) was held in Dhubri recently. The English training for the resource persons of Classes I-II was held at the conference hall of SSA District Mission Office while the English and Mathematics training for the resource persons of Classes III-V was held at BC Memorial Girls’ School.

The purposes of the training was to enable the participants to acquire skills of teaching English language and Mathematics, acquaint with the Student Learning Outcomes (LOs), know the relevant aspects of early grade language learning, transact the new English and Mathematics textbooks , develop the skills in teaching learning materials and activity preparation for teaching English and Mathematics, use of Open Educational Resource and the skills on how to assess learning.

Both the programmes were monitored and supervised by DPO(TT) Ganesh Prasad Shah, DPO(IE) Sehnaz Begum, and Block Resource Persons, one each from Agomani, Golakganj and Gouripur Block, also paid a visit.

Beside this, a day-long session was also conducted by district manager of Piramal Foundation, Uday Singh Chundawat and Program Leader, Sadasiva Reddy on how effective facilitation would help learners. There was also a session on types of knowledge, such as declarative and procedural knowledge, with role play, while the second session was on how to refine communication by asking open questions. The programme came to an end with the valedictory session by District Programme Officer (DPO -TT), Ganesh Prasad Shah. He told The Sentinel that the school academic environment was gradually improving in the district.
