JORHAT: Members of Tocklai Retired Employees’ Association stormed the premises of Tocklai Tea Research Institute as a mark of protest against non-release of retirement benefits, areas, gratuity and medical bills since 2006.
Hundreds of former scientists and employees shouted slogans to shift their registered office of TRA from Kolkata to Jorhat and to pay the retirement dues with further delay. The protesters later met Prabhat Kamal Bezbaruah, the chairman of the Tocklai Tea Research Institute. He assured to release the arrear after Kali Puja. He also immediately ordered the Accounts Department to release the arrear of 4-5 retired employees who were in dire need of money while pending medical bills since 2006 were asked to be released within a day or two by the chairman’s office, said Ajit Kumar Sharma, the secretary of the Tocklai Retired Employees’ Association.
