JAMUGURIHAT: Tilak Kakaty, a social organizer and a retired teacher, breathed his last on Tuesday at a private hospital at Guwahati due to prolonged illness. He was 68.

Kakaty, the founder headmaster of Hatinga High School, was closely associated with many socio-cultural organizations of the greater Jamugurihat area. He was a life member of Axam Xahitya Xabha, Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Bebejiya village development committee, besides others. The untimely demise of Tilak Kakaty, a known bhaona artiste of the area, was widely mourned. He leaves behind his wife, a son along with a host of relatives.
