JAMUGURIHAT: 'Return to the Wild', a Turtle Hatchlings Rehabilitation Initiative Program; was inaugurated by the Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika in collaboration with the forest department on Saturday at Sildubi inside the sixth addition of Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

Releasing the babies of the tortoise, Padma Hazarika said, "Aquatic animals are on the verge of extinction. We should all join hands for preservation of the endangered species. Sildubi, which is located to the southern part of Jamugurihat area, will be famous like Nagsankar Temple in the days to come for tortoises."

Notably, the historic Nagsankar Temple is famous for tortoises. The pond located inside the premise of the Nagsankar Temple is a safe home for the extinct species. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika has carried out many scientific experiments with the help of experts from the respective field for the preservation and safeguard of the amphibious. For preservation purposes, the babies of the tortoises of the Nagsankar Temple were released at Sildubi on Saturday. The programme was attended by Mukut Das, wildlife officer of Biswanath division, Akashdeep Kakati; Circle Officer, Naduar, and other dignitaries.
