TINSUKIA: A high power delegation led by Revenue Minister Jogen Mohan visited Sadiya and held discussion with several organizations on matters related to selling and purchase of land to non-tribal indigenous people of Sadiya recently after State Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma declared during his Sadiya visit on October 28 that the non-tribal indigenous people living in Sadiya since time immemorial would have equal rights in selling and purchase of land and if necessary amendment would be done in the Assam Land & Revenue Regulation 1886.
The team comprising of minister Mohan and Commissioner and Secretary Revenue, RohitGogoi had thread bare discussion with the subdivisional administration of Sadiya, Sadiya Khilongia Suraksha Manch, AASU, ATASU and other organizations and decided to resume land survey works in villages under Sadiya tribal belt and non-tribal indigenous areas where survey works were not undertaken earlier. It was also assured by the revenue officials that arrangement would be made to distribute miyadi patta to these category of people.
