Review meet on Jal Jeevan Mission held in Dima Hasao district

HAFLONG: In order to ensure smooth progress of Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission at Dima Hasao district, PHED Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah called on a review meeting with senior officials of the PHE at Deputy Commissioners Office, Halflong on Thursday. In the meeting the minister took stock of the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in regards to DPR, administrative approval, total number of ongoing schemes, schemes which has already been completed & handed over to Water User’s Committee and enquired about the overall progress of work as well as instructed the officials to complete the procedure in a time bound manner.

As Dima Hasao is prone to flood and faces acute water crisis, he put special emphasis on ensuring the adequate availability of pure drinking water to each and every household of the locality. He also stressed upon the ongoing Swachh Bharat Mission and reviewed the status of IHHL, ODF plus and GOBARDHAN scheme.

By addressing the media, Minister Baruah thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his gratitude for sanctioning Rs 250 crore initially and further increasing it to more than Rs 600 crore for JJM in Dima Hasao. Minister Baruah added that with the budget of more than Rs 850 crore, the work pattern of JJM in Dima Hasao district will gain more momentum in coming days . He expressed hope and stated that every household of Dima Hasao will soon have access to pure drinking water through household tap connection. He also called on the contractors engaged in JJM works of the district and enquired the progress of the works alloted to them already and instructed them to complete their respective work in stipulated time as per order. The meeting was attended by CEM Debolal Gorlosa, Executive Members of Council, Principal Secretary NCHAC, MD JJM, DC Dima Hasao, Chief Engineers of PHE and other senior officials.
