Review meeting of Juvenile Justice held in Dhubri

DHUBRI: The 3rd quarter review meeting of the Juvenile Justice Board was held in the conference hall of Dhubri Deputy Commissioner recently which was attended by Gauhati High Court Judge and Portfolio Judge of Dhubri district Achintya Malla Bujor Barua. The Juvenile Justice Board was constituted under the provision of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. The meeting discussed the problems and suffering of juveniles in Dhubri district.

Dhubri District and Session Judge Thaneswar Kalita delivered speech on 'An Overview of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. He spoke in details about the different provisions of the act, and particularly he laid emphasis on the working modalities of Child Welfare Committee and Special Juvenile Police Unit and Child Welfare Police Unit.

He also drew the attention of the Dhubri Deputy Commissioner, and concerned Superintendent of Police to monitor scrupulously the function of the Child Welfare Committee together with the bottlenecks that come in implementing the act in its real field.
