Rice weevil menace at Molkubasa in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: Rice weevil emanated from the FCI godown at Molkubasa on Convoy Road in Dibrugarh has become a menacing threat for the residents.

As soon as dusk, the weevils enter the residences and trouble the dwellers by entering their noses and ears.

Rotten rice, wheat, maize etc., are the ideal condition for rice weevil to thrive.

According to the affected residents of Convoy Road, they took up the menace with FCI authorities time and again, but to no avail. The lackadaisical attitude of FCI made the affected people stage demonstrations in front of the FCI godown today.

Had FCI kept its surroundings clean, the weevil menace would not have been a reality in the area.

Sources alleged that FCI get funds for the maintenance of rotten grains, but they misuse the money.

Sources in the locality said that it is high time the district administration took up the matter with FCI.
