Rich tribute paid to Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the State, Deshbhakti Divas was observed across Lakhimpur district on Friday on the occasion of the 84th birth anniversary of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan, in order to commemorate his noble contributions towards the Freedom Movement of India. In the district, the event was centrally observed in Deputy Commissioner’s office under the auspices of the district administration.

The agenda of the event began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, who attended the event as chief guest. He paid floral tribute at the portrait of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan. The dignitaries, officers of the district administration and government departments also paid floral tribute at the portrait of the great personality. In the event, District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan delivered a lecture by highlighting the remarkable contributions of Tarun Ram Phukan to the freedom movement. The event was attended by ADC Sulakhyana Borpatra Gohain, AC Arjit Mahajan, District Information and Public Relation Officer Mandira Chayengiya, AC Jyotikana Chetia, senior citizens, a host of academicians, officers and employees of the district administration and DIPRO Office.
