Ringkhu Damsa Busu Dima celebrated at Diyungbra, Haflong

Haflong: Ringkhu Damsa Cultural committee celebrated the Ringkhu Damsa Busu Dima at J B Hagjer College playground, Diyungbra about 90 km from Haflong in Dima Hasao on Thursday with traditional fervour.

The day-long programme was attended by chairman of Haflong Municipal Board Monjit Naiding, as the chief guest, while Associate Professor of the department of History, Gauhati University Dr Uttam Bathari along with his colleague from Nagaland, as guests of honour. All the gaon burhas of surrounding villages were also present as special guests. The festival was declared open with the inauguration of ‘phangsla,’ a majestic gate made of bamboos without the use of any nail or wire. The day’s programme began with the hoisting of flags by the president of the committee.

Traditional games and sports, dances were performed by the people of all ages. To showcase the traditional household items, a mini museum was also set up wherein hundreds of age-old items used in Dimasa community were displayed.

In the evening, ‘Baidima’ (Dimasa traditional dance) competitions were organized where children, youths, old men and women participated and it continued till midnight. Earlier, all the guests were felicitated with traditional ‘Risha’ as an act of honouring the guests of the Busu.
